Terms & Conditions
Welcome to RideGT. By using RideGT, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the app or website. RideGT is a convenience tool for transit information and route suggestions.
1. ETA and Route Information Disclaimer
Arrival times, wait times, route recommendations, and all similar timing information are estimates only. They may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate due to traffic, service disruptions, API delays, or other factors outside our control.
- Do not rely on RideGT ETAs or route predictions as guaranteed times.
- You are responsible for allowing sufficient buffer time for classes, work, travel, or other commitments.
- RideGT and its developers assume no responsibility or liability for missed buses, missed classes, delays, or related losses.
2. No Affiliation With Georgia Tech
RideGT is an independent student-built project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or representative of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Tech Parking and Transportation, or any official university office.
3. Third-Party Data and Services
RideGT depends on third-party services and data providers (for example, transit feeds, map providers, and hosting tools). We do not control third-party uptime, latency, or data quality.
| Service Type | Used For | Important Note |
|---|---|---|
| Transit APIs | Bus locations and arrivals | Feed delays or outages can impact ETA accuracy |
| Maps / Places providers | Map rendering and location search | Place and routing information may vary by provider data |
| Hosting / analytics providers | App delivery and performance monitoring | Service interruptions may temporarily affect availability |
4. The Campus Banner and User-Submitted Posts
RideGT shows a rotating banner at the bottom of the map carrying short posts from Georgia Tech students and student organizations — club meetings, campus events, and announcements.
a) Free, and labelled as an ad regardless
Posting is free while RideGT is in beta. No placement is sold and no money changes hands. Every post is still marked with an “Ad” label so it is never mistaken for RideGT’s own words.
b) Every post is reviewed by a person before it runs
Submissions go to ridegt.com/ads and are reviewed by a human before publication. Nothing is published automatically. Approved posts run until the end date the submitter chose and then come down.
c) What you may not post
By submitting a post, you confirm it is yours to submit and that it does not contain:
- Sexual, explicit, hateful, harassing, violent, or discriminatory content
- Anything misleading, fraudulent, or a scam
- Anything promoting illegal activity, drugs, weapons, or gambling
- Third-party intellectual property you do not have permission to use
- Personal information about anyone who has not agreed to appear
We may decline, edit for fit, or remove any post at any time, with or without explanation. Repeated abuse means we stop accepting posts from that submitter.
d) Your controls as a rider
The ••• button on the banner lets you report a post (which also hides it from you straight away) or close the banner for the session. Reports reach a monitored inbox and are acted on by a person.
e) Posts are not endorsements
A post appearing in RideGT is not an endorsement by us. Events, offers, and claims in a post are the submitter’s responsibility, and we are not liable for them or for anything that follows from acting on one.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse RideGT, including by:
- Interfering with normal operation of the app, backend, or website
- Attempting unauthorized access to infrastructure or private systems
- Using the service in any unlawful way
6. Availability and Changes
RideGT is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may add, remove, or modify features at any time, with or without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
7. Analytics, Monitoring, and Data Use
To operate and improve RideGT, we collect limited analytics and observability telemetry (for example, route-search outcomes, feature usage mode, and reliability/performance metrics).
- This telemetry is used for product improvement, debugging, and service reliability.
- It is not used to sell your data or build advertising profiles.
- It is designed to be non-identifying and does not intentionally include direct personal identity.
Banner posts are also counted, in two ways, so the student organization that posted one can find out whether it worked:
- Impressions — how many times the post was on screen.
- Link taps — if the post links somewhere, that link opens through a counting redirect on our server, which records that a tap happened.
Both counts are untargeted and carry no identity: nothing about who you are, where you are, or what you have searched for is attached to either. Additional details about what is collected and why are described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, RideGT and its developers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or any loss of time, data, business, opportunity, or academic/professional outcomes resulting from use of (or inability to use) RideGT.
9. Privacy
Your use of RideGT is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review it to understand how we collect and use information.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of RideGT after changes means you accept the revised terms.
